Five Star BBQ Marinade

Really don’t have much to say about this marinade, other then these are the flavours I absolutely love – Asian inspired of course.  It’s a simple, easy, recipe, delivering sophistication and full personality with the balance of sweet, salty, spicy.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook time: None

Serves: Makes 125ml

Ingredients

4 tbsp hoisin sauce
4 tbsp Chinese rice wine (Shaoxing) or dry sherry
4 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp runny honey
4 cloves garlic, crushed
2 fresh chillies, chopped (or 2 tsp flakes)
2 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
1 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

Pop all ingredients in a jar and give it a good shake. Now you’re ready to rock and roll.

Or what I like to do is make double the recipe and pour into a bottle, so I can transport it easily if heading to a friends place; camping or pot luck night.  Alternatively it’s great to keep handy in the fridge door, for a quick drizzle in a stir fry, over pan fried salmon or a fresh tuna salad.

This recipe ticks all the boxes and is fabulous through meat, veggies, seafood and fish.  Makes 125ml.

Jax Says : For best results, marinate for at least 30 minutes.  Overnight is always best.
